American Planning Association, Rhode Island Chapter Announces 2015 Award Winners
The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Planning Association(APA RI) recognized ten individuals and projects for their outstanding contributions to planning at its annual awards celebration on December 10 at Slater Mill in Pawtucket.
The APA RI Awards Program celebrates recent planning success stories and those who make a difference in the planning profession in Rhode Island. Each fall, APA RI invites nominations of outstanding projects, plans, student projects, and individual leaders, to honor the great work done that year to strengthen Rhode Island’s communities and advance urban, suburban, regional, and rural planning in the state. Across all of the award categories, APA RI seeks to recognize people and projects that embody innovation, comprehensiveness, collaboration, transferability to other communities, and a commitment to implementation.
“We were so pleased by the wealth of knowledge, innovation, and commitment to local communities demonstrated by all of this year’s nominations,” said Nancy Letendre, outgoing Chapter President of APA RI. “There is no question that Rhode Island is a better place today because of the planning projects and dedicated individuals awarded this year.”
