Economic Development Specialist- Somerville, MA
Economic Development Specialist is responsible for project management of complex development scenarios by providing technical assistance to elected and appointed officials; development of new economic development procedures; preparing written project analysis; interfacing with state and federal agencies; and managing consultant contracts including scope-of-work and budgets. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

Provides technical assistance to elected officials regarding planning activities
Researches and implements programs to enhance workforce development, business development and economic development
Manages and implements development projects.
Manages consultant contracts.
Interfaces with local community, other city department, and state/federal agencies.
Prepares written project analysis/response.
Develops new planning and economic development procedures.
Manages the public process dealing with planning initiatives
Prepares staff reports for a variety of Boards and Commissions
Presents case information at a Board and Commission meetings
Coordinates community outreach and participation processes
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and seven (7) years’ experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Master’s degree preferred.
